Best and Worst Dressed Picks

Above are our picks for "Best" and "Worst" Dressed at this years 67th Tony Awards. Scarlett looks chic and modern with a black cocktail dress paired with a fitted blazer and black patent leather pumps. We also LOVE her burgundy lipstick. It may be a little dark for summer, but for the Tony's, it's perfect! 

Mrs. Tyson on the other hand could use a little help. Although, she received a Tony Award, she definitely wins no fashion awards in our book. We're not sure what she was going for with this, but to us, it looks like a purple sea urchin! Best of luck next time!

COACHELLA~ Lacoste L!VE Desert Pool Party!

Hung out last weekend at the Lacoste L!VE 4th Annual Desert Pool Party at Coachella! Coachella is the hottest music festival of the year. It brings all the fashionistas around the world together, including top celebrities. We spotted Katy Perry, The Jonas Brothers and Victoria Secret models at the Lacoste L!VE Pool Party this year. They even had this cool nail painting/art station where you could get colorful and funky mani/pedi's for the party!

If you've never been to Coachella it's definitely a must! If you love fashion and music then you have NO excuse!

Matt from Nashville, TN- New Social Media Ambassador!

Matt is our Store Manager at the Cool Springs Galleria in Franklin, TN! He has been a part of our Shi family for 5 1/2 years and we couldn't possibly love him more! Matt is a huge advocate for getting the Shi brand out there, and that's why we know he'll make a fabulous Social Media Ambassador.

When Matt's not at the store he likes to pass time going to thrift or antique shops. He's also recently become addicted to tattoos and piercings (which is why he's thrilled to work for a company like Shi by Journeys that embraces diversity)!

Matt's excited about SO many trends this season, but his absolute favorite is the 90's grunge and creeper trend. Give him a pair of TUK Flatforms, a blazer and drop crotch trousers and he's a happy man! He also says to "watch out for classic Converse hi tops this year, they're coming back!" (we agree).

Matt's keen eye for current trends and his love for fashion will be a great asset and contributor to the Social Media Ambassador Program and we're thrilled to have him!

Rebecca from Lake Grove L.I., NY–New Social Media Ambassador!

Rebecca is one of our new Shi by Journeys Social Media Ambassadors and is a Store Manager in Lake Grove L.I., NY. She has worked for Shi by Journeys for over four years–but don't be fooled, she isn't your average girly-girl. 

Rebecca loves to make her customers feel empowered. She truly believes that hard work pays off and that everyone deserves to treat themselves once in awhile. Her favorite thing to tell customers is "you owe it to yourself to splurge on YOU!" Rebecca has a very kind heart and loves shoe companies such as TOMS that work for a cause. 

With OVER 200 pairs of shoes and handbags to match, Rebecca doesn't have a favorite brand. While on the job, she likes to switch shoes up to 3 times a day to show her customers she truly knows her product (ah-mazing)! Her favorite spring trends for 2013 include high-low dresses and skirts she can rock with her crochet shoes. She's also loving the pastel colors that are hot right now. She can't decide which she likes more, mint or melon (let's be honest, no one can).

In her free time Rebecca likes working out, going to the harbors of the island and going to sporting events. It is truly such an honor to have Rebecca a part of this program and we can't wait to see what she and NEW YORK have to bring to the table for our social sites.

We spent last weekend in Austin at South By South West- enjoying new music and scouting for new fashion trends. Oldies, but Goodies!

We love it when old styles come back into our lives! At some point in the last two decades, each of these shoes have been the "it" fashion item to have in your closet. Now each of these favorites are making a fierce comeback!

If you were a tween in the mid-to-late 90's, you may remember this "Spice Girl" shoe. The platform sneaker was a must have, thanks to our favorite pop sensation of the nineties. This style is sweeping our nation once again, with a little more style and sophistication, and we're loving it.

The wedge sneaker has obviously made a strong comeback (let's be honest, it's everywhere). We've seen updated versions of this fun trend, but this exact Volatile sneaker wedge was such a statement in the late nineties-early 2000's. We're sure those of you who wore them remember pairing these shoes with a valor jumpsuit (so J-LO)!

Is grunge a thing of the past or are fashionistas like Jessica Alba, Miley Cyrus, Rumor Willis just living in the past? Yea, we think not! It's true, this trend of the 90's is back. Once made popular by Nirvana, Courtney Love and Pearl Jam, we hope this trend doesn't go anywhere too soon!

Contouring Makeup Tutorial

Do you ever wonder how one day a celebrity can look like they've had a nose job or lost a lot of weight in their face, and the next day they don't? Well, the answer to that mystery is called "contouring." Contouring is a makeup technique used to bring out facial features and the shape of your face using different shapes and colors of makeup. This technique has become especially popular due to the beautiful face and makeup artist of Kim Kardashian.

Unfortunately, not all of us are lucky enough to have a makeup artist on hand every morning, so we wanted to simplify the contouring process by teaching you a simple way to contour your own features. We visited Sephora and spoke with a make-up artist to get the low-down.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

-Highlighter one shade lighter than your skin tone with a little shimmer (use a light eye shadow with a subtle shimmer if you have one).

-Bronzer one shade darker than your skin tone.

-Foundation the natural tone of your skin (optional).

-Makeup brushes

*You can use liquid or powder. If you have more creases in your skin, it's best to use a powder.

HOW TO:

1. Start by applying the foundation evenly on your face and neck. 

2. Use your bronzer (contour shade) anywhere on your face that is hidden by a shadow (see image below).

3. Use the highlighter in the middle of your face (your t-zone), down the bridge of your nose and on the very top, outer portions of your cheeks. Basically, anywhere light would hit.

4. BLEND!!
